Nancy Pitkin is a pianist, vocalist, songwriter, composer, recording artist and sound practitioner. She began her career as a music educator and later traveled to Nashville, TN to hone her songwriting skills while working for several music publishers. She performed not only as a soloist, but in bands and duos and as a collaborative accompanist for shows, instrumentalists, singers and dancers.
Nancy attributes her musical talents to her mother, who was a soloist in musicals and played the piano and accordion. Her grandfather was a ragtime pianist and sang in a barbershop quartet called the Silk City Four. Nancy remembers thumbing through his piano books when she was young, learning to play his genre of music.
Incorporating her knowledge of sound into her work as a musician and composer, she has presented workshops at health care professional retreats such as senior groups, corporate audiences, and Hospice providers in the US, UK and Canada. She has training in Acutonics I & II (tuning forks,) Sound Healing under Jonathan Goldman, Korean Hand Therapy for Pain Management under Dr. Dan Lobash, and Subtle Yoga for Positive Mental Health & for Trauma Recovery under Kristine Kaoverii Weber.
Nancy has been creating vocal music CD’s and DVD’s for older adults for many years.
